Sudden drop in hard drive space due to full recycle bin.
Cause:
The computer is low on disk space possibly because the 'Recycle Bin' needs to be emptied, or because there are many unneeded files on the hard disk. Low disk space may create problems when running applications or starting Windows 95.
Solution:
Empty the 'Recycle Bin'. Remove any unneeded files from the hard drive, or reduce the amount of disk space reserved for the 'Recycle Bin'.
Do one or more of the following to free up disk space:
1) Empty the 'Recycle Bin':
CAUTION: Selecting 'Empty Recycle Bin' deletes ALL of the files from the 'Recycle Bin'.
a) Double-click the 'Recycle Bin' icon. (The 'Recycle Bin' window appears.)
NOTE 1: To delete only some of the files in the 'Recycle Bin', select the file(s) to be deleted (hold down the CTRL key to select multiple items), and select the 'File' menu and select 'Delete'.
NOTE 2: To delete individual items, select the file, and select the 'File' menu and select 'Delete'.
b) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Empty Recycle Bin'. (The 'Confirm File Delete' dialog box appears.)
c) Click 'Yes' to remove all the files that are in the Recycle Bin from the hard drive.
NOTE: Click 'No' if the files in the 'Recycle Bin' are not to be permanently erased from the hard drive.
2) Back up and delete unneeded files from the disk:
a) Click on 'Start' to open the 'Start Menu'.
b) Select 'Programs'.
c) Click 'System Tools'.
d) Click 'Backup'.
e) Run a backup.
3) Delete unnecessary Windows files.
4) Reduce the amount of disk space reserved for the 'Recycle Bin':
